Project Fragarach
Project Fragarach is a Beat ‘Em Up game where you prepare attacks using a series of card combos. Players must build a deck and tactically play cards quickly in the midst of battle, which influence the attacks they deal to enemies

The main system behind this game was the card-based combat system. We were aiming for expandable combat where the player could “unlock“ better attacks through new cards.
This did come with the challenge of the random card RNG forcing the player into certain attacks. To combat this we implemented a “combo“ mechanic where players gain bonuses for using their cards in combination/ in an order with specific other cards.

Given the importance of animations from a design perspective on our game, we decided to design characters for clear visibility both for their location and in the anticipation of their attacks.
